There is a LOT of useful information in this article. I agree that pepper spray, stun guns and personal alarms are more popular self defense products. I know personally, I prefer to carry both a pepper spray and a personal alarm. This has worked well for me. They are both affordable and effective. What more can you ask?

Is it my imagination or is crime increasing in frequency and severity as the economy has gotten worse. No time to scrimp on security equipment and self defense knowledge. An injury can cost a fortune to get repaired, and better and assailant breath pepper spray or feel the jolt of a stun gun than a victim take a cut, a bruise, sprain or broken bone.
The bottom line for me is the police carry pepper sprays and Tasers. In addition to their firearm they like the ability to use a nonlethal defense weapon.

Good article. Pepper spray is an economical weapon that is very effective for self protection and I keep mine, too, on my key chain so it is with me at all times.
I like the Mace Night Defender. I have one that I leave in the glovebox of my car. It serves two purposes:
1. As a flashlight
2. As a self-defense weapon.
